The old way to build a steel frame: order sticks, lay out every joint by hand, cut, cope, grind, fit, tack, adjust, weld. The new way: the joints arrive already cut. Tube laser cutting moved the hardest part of frame building from the field into the shop, and builders who have used it once rarely go back.

From sticks to kits

A tube laser runs full 24 foot sticks of round, square, and rectangular tube plus structural profiles, and cuts the copes, holes, slots, and weld prep in the same operation as the length. What shows up on the truck is not raw material; it is a kit where every joint already fits the member it meets.

That precision comes from the model, not the tape measure. Joints land where the drawings say, which is why frames built from laser-cut members go together with minimal hand fitting.

What that means for the schedule

Fit-up is the slow, skilled, unglamorous part of structural work. When it collapses into assembly and welding, crews spend their hours joining steel instead of shaping it, grinding drops, and re-cutting mistakes. The weld quality rises too, because a tight, consistent gap is the first ingredient of a good weld.

Our structural welding runs under AWS D1.1 certification, and heavier sections that do not suit the laser run on the plasma tube cutter, so the whole package ships from one floor.

Common questions

What size tube and structural sections can you cut?

The tube laser takes full 24 foot sticks and fits up to 6″ × 6″ square tube, 6″ × 6″ channel, and 6″ round tube. Larger and heavier sections run on our plasma tube cutter.

Can you work from our engineer's drawings?

Yes. We fabricate from your structural drawings, and our engineering team can develop shop drawings from them when the package needs it.
