Drilling & Tapping
Drilled, tapped, and countersunk features without an outside machine shop.
An SFX M30R electric tapping arm from SFX Machinery threads holes in-line as parts move through the shop, and two Bridgeport drill presses handle drilled and countersunk features alongside it. Holes come out square, threaded, and to depth without a detour to a third-party machine shop.
An articulated tapping arm brings the spindle to the part instead of the part to a mill: no fixturing time, no second setup, no waiting. The Bridgeports cover drilled bosses, countersinks, and the odd feature a router shouldn't chase, so finished holes never hold up a job.
- SFX M30R electric tapping arm
- 2× Bridgeport drill presses
- Countersinking to print
- In-line with cutting & forming
Do you drill and tap in-house?
Yes. An SFX M30R electric tapping arm threads holes in-line, and two Bridgeport drill presses handle drilling and countersinking, so machined holes never wait on an outside shop.
What does in-line tapping mean for lead time?
Tapping happens right after cutting and forming instead of queueing at a separate station, so threaded parts move straight to welding and assembly without a detour.
